👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Toast the oats on a flat baking sheet for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant and lightly golden, then set aside to cool.
- 2 Combine the honey, peanut butter, and melted butter in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, for 3-4 minutes until well combined and slightly thickened; make sure it doesn't come to a boil and bubble over.
- 3 Turn off the heat, add the salt, then pour the honey mixture into the toasted oats. Add the raisins and chopped almonds, and stir well with a spatula until all the oats are evenly coated with the honey mixture.
- 4 Prepare a 18x18 cm (7x7 inch) square baking pan and line it with parchment paper. Pour the oat mixture into the pan, flatten it, and press down firmly using the back of a spoon or a spatula so it's compact and won't fall apart easily when sliced.
- 5 Place the pan in the refrigerator (not the freezer) for 1 hour until the mixture is completely firm and set.
- 6 Remove the pan from the refrigerator and cut the oat mixture into 10 long bars using a sharp knife that has been briefly warmed, for neat, clean cuts.
- 7 Melt the cooking chocolate together with the cooking oil using a double boiler over hot water, stirring constantly until the chocolate is smoothly melted and glossy, about 3-5 minutes.
- 8 Dip half of each oat bar into the melted chocolate, or spoon the chocolate over the top until evenly coated.
- 9 Place the chocolate-coated bars on parchment paper and chill again in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes until the chocolate coating has fully hardened before serving or packaging.
💡 Tips
• Use cooking chocolate with at least 50% cocoa content so the sweetness isn't overpowering and the flavor is richer.
• Press the oat mixture into the pan as firmly as possible—this is the key to keeping the bars from falling apart when sliced.
• Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or wrap each bar individually in plastic wrap for a convenient grab-and-go snack.
• You can swap the raisins for dried cranberries or chopped dates for a fresher flavor variation.
