👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin until thin and pliable so it's easy to roll without tearing.
- 2 Spread peanut butter evenly over the surface of the bread, leaving a 1 cm border around the edges so it doesn't ooze out when rolled.
- 3 Place 2-3 lengthwise banana pieces on one side of the bread, sprinkle with a little shredded cheese, then roll the bread up tightly.
- 4 Mix the beaten egg with the liquid milk, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl, and stir until well combined.
- 5 Dip each bread roll into the egg mixture, coating the entire surface evenly, for about 5 seconds.
- 6 Heat a non-stick pan with a little melted margarine over low-medium heat.
- 7 Toast the bread rolls, turning occasionally, for 5-7 minutes until the entire surface is golden brown and crispy.
- 8 Remove from the pan and let rest for 2-3 minutes so the filling firms up slightly, then cut diagonally into 2 pieces.
- 9 Arrange in a lunchbox and serve warm or at room temperature.
💡 Tips
• Use slightly soft white bread so it's easy to flatten and won't tear when rolled.
• The rolls can be prepared the night before and stored in the fridge, then just toasted in the morning.
• Swap the peanut butter for chocolate spread or cream cheese if your kids aren't big fans of peanut flavor.
• Make sure to keep the heat on low-medium while toasting so the inside cooks through without burning the outside.
